As we endure the dog days of summer, I hope you all have found a way to stay cool or maybe even get away to the coast for a little R & R (and cloud cover)!
That said…I really hope you’ll be in town for our meeting on July 31st. Our guest will be Yinka Oshodi, the Research Manager at Comprehensive Blood and Cancer Center. I met Yinka several months ago and was enthralled by her experiences and her current role in helping connect local cancer patients with clinical trials. I think you’ll enjoy hearing from Yinka and learning about what’s on the horizon in cancer research! If you’re thinking about bringing a friend to a meeting, this might be a good time to do it!
Many thanks to Michele McClure for putting together a great dinner social at Sorella’s! Twenty-five of us had the back room to ourselves (good news for the other diners!). It was fun to catch up with friends and, sure enough, the steak was as delicious as we were promised!
We have a lot of fun activities coming up, including THREE socials that include other Bakersfield Rotary clubs! (Remember, Rotary Connects the World!)
Please mark your calendar for these important dates:
August 7 - District Governor Savi Bhim will be the program for our regular meeting
August 8 - Woolgrower’s - Dinner with DG Savi and friends from other clubs
August 24 - Nethercutt Museum (joint social with Bakersfield East)
September 12 - All-Bako-Clubs Social at The BLVD (Bowling and fajitas in the VIP section!)
September 28 - Wine Place & Show at Luigi’s Warehouse
Hope to see you on July 31st for our next meeting!
