Introducing the one and only David Lari, our fearless leader and President of the Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary Club! David's Rotary journey began way back on December 1, 1995, when he was sponsored by Joe Audelo. Since then, he's worn just about every hat in the club—Director of Youth Services, Director of International Service, Treasurer, and even President of the Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary Foundation. Now, with a Paul Harris plus 1 to his name, he's leading us into another great year.
When he's not busy making our club the best it can be, David is running the Commercial Bank for JPMorgan Chase. He provides top-notch banking services to businesses with revenues between $20 million and $500 million. From treasury products to credit cards, David’s got it covered. But before his banking days, he kicked off his career as a CPA, then moved into finance roles at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital and Castle & Cooke. He switched gears to banking with Wells Fargo in 2009, then joined JPMorgan Chase in 2019.
On the home front, David is happily married to his college sweetheart, Marti. The two met at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and have been married since December 1, 1990. Together, they have the best poodle mix ever—Libby—and they’re also foster parents to a rotating cast of shelter dogs.
But that’s not all—David’s got a bit of an adventurous streak! He loves to travel and prides himself on trying exotic foods wherever he goes. The most daring? Pig intestines at a Chinese restaurant (he doesn’t recommend it, by the way). His motto? “Try it, you may like it!”
For David, Rotary is more than just meetings and fundraisers. It’s a chance to connect with lifelong friends, roll up his sleeves, and make a real impact both locally and globally. Whether he’s lending a hand here in Bakersfield or across the world, David is all about changing the world, one service project at a time.
