Anna Laven, Executive Director
Bakersfield-Kern Regional Homeless Collaborative (BKRHC)

After an extensive search that began in October 2019, the BKRHC announced that Dr. Anna Laven was selected to serve as the organization’s Executive Director. The appointment was a unanimous vote by all nine members of the Executive Board and she began her role in mid-February this year.  With extensive experience developing partnerships and collaborating with public and private entities in her career, most recently as a program manager at Bakersfield College, Dr. Laven is  responsible for providing strategic and operational vision for the BKRHC, developing programs to reach the organization’s ultimate goal where every person in Kern County has a place to call home.

Raised in Bakersfield, Dr. Anna Laven's talents lie in the start up and scale up of programming with a focus in education and public policy.  More recently, she was the manager of the largest dual enrollment program in the state, providing access to college courses for high school students.  Her work has been recognized locally by the Chamber of Commerce and across California.  She is also a graduate of the Kern Taxpayers Association Leadership Academy.  A proud mother of two and happily married to her college sweetheart, Dr. Laven serves her community through her church, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Kern County.  She holds a bachelor's degree in Women's Studies from Scripps College and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UCLA.
