Thomas Roads Improvement Program (TRIP) update

Nick Fidler is the Public Works Director for the City of Bakersfield.  He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University in 1997 and became a Registered Professional Engineer in 2000.  Nick is a Bakersfield native and upon graduating from SDSU returned to work for the City of Bakersfield as a temporary Engineer 1.  Nick went on to work for the County of Kern and California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) before returning to the City of Bakersfield for the past 20 years.  He has worked up through the ranks in the Public Works Department starting as an Engineer 1.  He has worked in Construction, Traffic and Design Engineering Divisions; General Service Division; and the Assistant Public Works Director before becoming the Public Works Director.  He was Project Manager for several multi-million dollar projects such as The Park at River Walk, Aera Park, Sports Village Park, Fire Station 14, White Lane Interchange, and Hosking Avenue at State Route 99 Interchange.  Nick is married with two children; his wife Tammy, 19 year old daughter Piercynn and 16 year old son Rhyder.  Both kids are avid runners and keeps him busy on the weekends. Nick is very active in his church serving as a usher, Deacon, Board member and 7th/8th grade Sunday school teacher. 

"Our goal is to provide quality infrastructure design, construction and inspection services; to design, install and maintain traffic control systems; to provide maintenance of street surfaces, publicly-owned facilities, and street lighting; to monitor, operate and maintain the Wastewater Treatment Plants, sanitary sewer and storm drain systems, and recycling center; to ensure an adequate inventory of safe and efficient motorized fleet, equipment and telecommunications systems; and to ensure that public inquiries are handled in a timely and professional manner."
