Keeping the Light Bright at This Week's Meeting!
Hello, amazing Rotarians!
This week's meeting was a lively affair, full of joy and valuable insights. Let's dive into the highlights!
Meeting Highlights:
A Royal Touch: Princess Cheryl Scott graciously filled in for President Pat, who's on the mend from shoulder surgery. She was brilliant at keeping our meeting both fun and on track. Kudos to Cheryl!
Opening Acts: We kicked off with a soulful prayer by Ron Nelms, a patriotic flag salute from Mary Jo, and a festive Christmas carol led by Robert Provencio.
Warm Welcomes: Our guests this week were Johnathon (Bill Black's son), Dr. Tangeman (Frank Wooldridge’s friend), and Dave Smith (brought by Kay Pitts). Greetings were warmly extended by our greeters, Donna Schwartz and Heath Niemeyer.
Special Guest Speaker: Dechelle Smith from Kern Regional Crime LabFrank Wooldridge introduced our esteemed guest, Dechelle Smith. The Kern Regional Crime Lab plays a crucial role in supporting justice with cutting-edge forensic science. For the uninitiated, Forensic science is the application of science to criminal and civil laws, primarily on the criminal side during criminal investigation, as governed by the legal standards of admissible evidence and criminal procedure.
Fun Fact: Before the era of forensic science, we had our very own Frank Wooldridge cracking cases the old-fashioned way. We imagine Frank saying, "Back in my day, we didn't need DNA, just good old detective work!"
Celebrations and Happy Moments:
John Guerard shared his $25 happiness for an amazing trip to Egypt.
Mindy Wilmot was $10 happy, dazzling at the mayor's ball in her red dress (but oops, forgot her rotary pin!).
Club Anniversaries: We celebrated David Spalinger, Neil Walker, and Peter Leveroni - for their club anniversaries.
33 Years of Togetherness: A big cheer for David and Marti Laurie on their 33rd wedding anniversary!
Bill Potter's Joy: Bill contributed a generous $100, celebrating his new business merger with Watson Reality and title "Willie’s brother."
