Dear BBRC Members,
President Pat Thompson took the lead, starting the meeting promptly at 7:00 am with the ringing of the club bell! PEN Mindy Wilmot stepped up to the plate, leading a spirited flag salute in place of Thomas Burke. Harry Bryant indicated he had more important things to do, so PP Michael O’Doherty filled in for him and gave an inspiring invocation which uplifted us. Carol Smith led us in a harmonious rendition of "God Bless America."
A round of applause for our outstanding greeters, Shane Bryan, Darin Blunt, and Stephanie Baker, who set the stage for a fantastic gathering.
Spotlight on our Guest Speaker:We had the privilege of hosting Randy Martin from Covenant Coffee, a faith-based organization dedicated to supporting foster children and young adults. Their incredible work helps these individuals heal from past abuse and reintegrate into society as productive members. Truly inspiring! Randy also kept tying in President Pat’s theme, “Be the Beacon for HOPE,” in his presentation.

Happy birthday to Bill Black and Mike O’Doherty! May your year be filled with joy and success. Because Mike is turning the big “seven-0”, President Pat presented him with a lovely bottle of wine. In addition, President Pat promised everyone and anyone in BBRC, who turns 70 during his year as president, will also be given a bottle of wine.
Doing what has been a tradition for years at BBRC (bring your spouse to a BBRC meeting during the month of your wedding anniversary – or face a fine), Greg Desme brought his beautiful wife Janis to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on August 27th. Congratulations also go out to Sandra and John Parnell and Robert and Linda Provencio on their wedding anniversaries. Wishing you continued love and happiness.
Our members shared some moments of joy:
PP Jeff Haynes couldn't contain his excitement, sharing a $20 happy spot for his unforgettable fishing trip to Alaska and reeling in those memories! He promised President Pat, some salmon from this fishing trip! Mindy Wilmot had a blast at her PRLS Rotary training in Ventura, and her $10 happy spot reflects the fun she had while learning and growing. Sally Selby and hubby Bret celebrated her 37th wedding anniversary in Hawaii…with a $37 happy spot. Here's to many more years of love and adventure!
Jeffrey Bell is thrilled as his youngest daughter obtained her driver's license, giving him more time to participate in Rotary events—a $20 happy spot to mark this milestone. Jeff, no more excuses now for missing Wednesday breakfast meetings! Ken Quarnberg excitedly told us about taking grandsons on a first-time-ever fishing experience, and he was $18 happy!
And in addition to Happy Spots – President Pat was very excited to levy a few fines on club members. The first one was to the writer of this newsletter for not showing up by 6:30 am for Greeter Duty. When asked what time I did show up…I was promptly reminded to remember the Four-Way Test – “Is it the Truth?” I had to admit that I arrived at 6:50 am and would be more than happy to pay the $5 fine. Michael O’Doherty ratted out Stephanie Baker for not standing when speaking to the President…but then later apologized and said he would pay her fine of $10, as well as a $10 fine for not introducing his guest.
The opportunity drawing winners today were Carol Smith and Michael O’Doherty, who combined their tickets and then split the $60 proceeds.
