Denise Rene’ Haynes is a true MVP of the Bakersfield Breakfast Rotary Club. Since she joined in 2005, Denise has brought her A-game to every role on the field. From Program Committee rookie to powerhouse President (2017-2018), she’s done it all, and her record is nothing short of championship material. With titles like Rotarian of the Year (2010-11), a Rotary International Service Above Self Award (2013-14), and even a special shout out from the District Governor in 2022, Denise’s Rotary career is Hall of Fame-worthy.
After a 33-year career playing key positions across eight county departments—capping it off as the Director of Kern County Animal Services—Denise retired in 2017 but stayed in the game, starting a printing and embroidery business with her husband Scott. And like a true all-star, she’s kept her home team strong, with two daughters, two sons, and five grandkids (one more on the way!), plus two pups, Bruce the silver lab and Peanut the pint-sized mutt. Bakersfield born and bred, Denise and Scott have deep roots here, with parents who went to high school together!
Denise is known for her contagious laugh that fills a room—no need for an announcer to let you know she’s around! For her, Rotary is a league of camaraderie, constant learning, and true friendships, where every season brings new plays, challenges, and victories.
